Why an electrified mat?
Bears make terrible house guests!
If you want to have your window or door open while in bear country, you run the risk of a bear inviting itself in. Some bears that are “professionals” at entering structures may go so far as to bust in a door or window that is closed.
A simple solution to this is one of our electrified mats in front of that door or under that window. The bear walks up, steps in the mat, receives a shock and runs off! It’s a win-win for everyone, it keeps your property protected and keeps the bear safe.
The shock is a psychological barrier as well as a physical one, scaring the bear with a novel feeling not found in nature. It stings, for sure, but does not harm the bear.
Save a Bear
Most states will euthanize a bear that is associated with a home entry as they are considered a safety concern at that point, and bears have hurt people inside homes. Usually this is in the form of the house occupant going to investigate noises and inadvertently blocking the bear’s route of escape. As the bear runs for its entry point, it may injure the person on its way out. Sometimes, though, a bear may feel like it needs to defend its food source and cause significant injury. These bears are of concern to management agencies and will not be tolerated. By putting down an electric mat, you may be saving a bear from learning how to enter a home in the first place or giving a bear a bad enough experience that it may think twice before trying it again.

The First Electric Mat
We have been doing this for awhile!
This mat was put together using the rubber mat from the back of a truck, a hog panel that was laying around and an electric fence charger in the mid-2000s. Ever hear a grizzly bear howl? Have your volume on!
Construction you can depend on
We make our mats to last! Each of our robust mats is hand-made of high-grade vulcanized rubber for added strength and durability, galvanized steel for the design, and stainless steel attachments for added weather resistance.
Electrical harnesses are made with waterproof heat-shrink and heavy gauge wire, embedded within the mat and a simple foolproof weather resistant plug for easy connection to the energizer. Optional 12-foot connection harnesses are available for greater versatility in placement.
Light enough to move easily, yet heavy enough to stay in place in windy conditions or in heavy foot or vehicle traffic.
